Mother's Day Flowers
In April, Art Start students made handmade paper and water color paintings for Mother's Day gifts.  1) The first week we clipped flowers from hanging baskets
and pressed them in phone books to dry.  2) While the flowers dried, students learned about Georgia O'Keeffe and drew flowers from observation. 3) The second
week we made paper pulp by mixing recycled paper and water in a blender.  4) We poured the paper pulp through screens, squeezed out the extra water, then added
the pressed flowers on top.  We also pressed wildflower seeds into a smaller piece of handmade paper.  This piece of paper can be planted and watered and
hopefully it will produce flowers!  5) When the handmade paper was finished we painted the flower drawings with watercolor. Scroll down to see the results.
