Art Start
Tree Houses
Tree houses have a special way of capturing the imagination.  We started off this lesson talking
about trees: which trees are the best for tree houses, and how to draw them.  We also learned
that there are three main types of tree houses:  tree houses that nestle up in the branches, those
that are carved into the trunk of the tree, and those that wrap around the trunk.  We talked about
the fun features a tree house can have:  slides, ladders, swings, etc..  Then we sketched and put
it all together in unique, original ways.  Final drawings had several finishing options, including
outlining with dark pencil, watercolor paint, and/or colored pencil.
