Art Start
Self Portraits in the Studio
Art Start students painted water color self portraits this session.  Everyone
looked in mirrors to see how their faces really looked.  We noticed things
like how the eyelids touch the irises of our eyes and how our hair forms
shapes, paying special attention to proportion and detail.  We drew in pencil
first, then outlined with permanent fine line marker.  For a background,
students drew things that were around them in the art room.  (Pinecone the
parakeet was a favorite subject.)  Last we added color with watercolors.
