Art Start students traveled around the world for this lesson, learning
about
Australian Aborigine art as well as the people, culture, and
music from down under.  They learned why Aboriginal art has dots
and lines, the meaning of some symbols, and why the colors came
from nature.  This was a mixed media project; students had access
to cut paper, oil pastels, colored pencil, and tempera paint.  (see
Julia at work, left)  Some students added animals to their pictures,
others kept theirs totally abstract.  Scroll down to see the rich
variety they achieved within the specific stylist framework of a
fascinating culture.
