Mandalas
Art Start students learned about mandalas, which are basically circular designs that radiate
from the center.  Mandalas can be found in nature, religion and art throughout the world.  We
started our mandalas in pencil by drawing a shape in the center of the page.  Then we added
more and more shapes growing out from the center till the page was filled.  Students traced
over the lines with fabric paint.  Then after the fabric paint dried, they painted inside those
shapes with tempera.
