Art Start students created these vibrant tropical fish in three class sessions. First they sketched several different types of fish as
realistically as possible, referring to photographic resources in the art room. Then each student chose his or her favorite fish and drew it
large on bristol board. The next class session was spent "doodling" designs and patterns within the body shape of the fish. Sharpie
permanent markers were used to color in the doodling. Finally, the fish were cut out and mounted on colored paper. Students decided
how to best accentuate the fish with cut paper by creating a border, seaweed, other decorative elements, or a plain background.
