This summer mini camp lasted for three days. First, students sketched three different animals from photo reference or from realistic-looking toy sculptures. Then they chose their favorite animal to sculpt in clay. We started with the body shape, paying attention to typical positions an animal might assume. Next students added limbs and head, using a "score and slip" technique. Details were added last. After the pieces had a week to dry thoroughly, they were painted with tempera and sealed with Mod Podge.
