This summer mini camp lasted for three days. First, students watched a video short from the movie "Spirit" where an animator explains how he draws horses. While they watched, the students followed along with their eyes and fingers on horse sculptures. Then they studied horse books and discussed horse shapes, sizes, and proportions. The first day was spent sketching. The next day, students worked on a final drawing, adding backgrounds from the imagination. Drawings were done in pencil, then colored with colored pencil on day three. Horses are difficult to draw; but very fun!
