TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Fall 2009 -- present
Part-time Art Teacher:  Prospect Heights School District 23.  Teaches art part-time to Anne Sullivan School 5th graders, 100 students
total.  Curriculum includes drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and ceramics.

2008 -- present
Art Workshop Presenter:  Libraries throughout the Chicago area.  Presents hands-on 90 minute art workshops for children.  Clients
include Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Indian Trails, Antioch and Morton Grove Libraries. Performed at the 2009 Harvest of Resources
Showcase at the Harold Washington Library in Chicago.

2004 -- present
Part-time Art Teacher and Owner:  Christine Thornton’s Art Studio in Mount Prospect.  Teaches semi-private art lessons for children
ages 5-12 from home studio.  View a

Fall 1994 -- Spring 1997
Full-time Art Teacher:  River Trails School District 26 in Mount Prospect.  Taught grades K-5 at Euclid and Indian Grove Schools.  
Taught 1200 students per year.  Curriculum included drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, and collage.  Attended
curriculum writing workshops then updated the district's elementary visual art curriculum to meet state of Illinois standards.  Founded
after-school art club for fifth graders.        

Spring 1994
Substitute Teacher:  Glencoe District 35 grades K-8 and Avoca West District 37 grades K-8.

Fall 1993
Student Teacher: Glencoe Central Middle School grades 5-8, Glencoe District 35.   New Trier Township High School grades 9-12,
District 203 in Winnetka.
