Art Start February 2013
Art Start students chose whatever subject they wanted for this clay project- with a few rules. First, they had to show a scene of some kind, so they needed to put an object or character in some kind of setting, or suggest some kind of story. Second, they needed to use different hand building techniques with the air dry clay: slab, coil and pinch. Third, they had to make the sculpture strong enough so the clay would not break (no super tall parts, and attach everything well with scratch and slip).
The finished sculptures were painted with tempera and coated with Mod Podge. The kids loved coming up with their own scenes. Check them out!
