Drawing Eyes: Both Animal and Human

Art Start March 2016

Eyes are fun to draw- they are colorful, expressive, detailed, and can evoke many different emotions.  Art Start students spent several weeks drawing eyes. First we practiced sketching with pencil on paper. Students learned to draw the proportions of the human eye, and also had a chance to practice drawing animal and imaginary eyes. For the final project, there were different materials to choose from: oil pastels (fluorescent, metallic and regular) or colored pencils on either black or white paper. It was fascinating to see the variety this project produced.  Some artists worked hard to achieve photo realism while others chose fantasy and still others somewhere in between.
