Art Start March 2018
A mandala is a circular design that radiates out from the center. Mandalas can be found in nature: snowflakes, spider webs, flowers, galaxies, even the iris of your eye. Mandalas have been made as forms of art throughout human history. They are commonly used to help focus attention and contemplation and to inspire peace and calm. Art Start students drew these mandalas in pencil, starting from the center and working their way out. The pencil lines were outlined using either puffy paint or sharpies, then the negative spaces were filled in with watercolors.
